A new set of GreenVOCnet educational materials on green hydrogen and heat pump technologies is now ready for use in Slovakia. These resources aim to strengthen vocational education and training (VET) in green technologies. They will help learners and professionals gain the knowledge and skills to shape the next generation of green professionals.
What the Materials Cover
The new educational materials introduce both the theory and practice of green hydrogen and heat pump technologies. They cover topics such as electricity, thermodynamics, refrigeration cycles, installation, and maintenance. Learners will also be able to explore hydrogen production and use in energy, mobility, and industry, as well as safety and environmental aspects.
Optional modules address energy efficiency, regulations, and advanced applications.
Together, they offer a comprehensive foundation for green technology training aligned with modern VET needs.
Tailored for the Slovak Context
The materials have been developed as part of a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). It has been designed as a comprehensive, stand-alone learning experience. This structure enables learners to gain a complete understanding of the topic and finish the course with specialised expertise in the field.
At the same time, the flexible delivery format allows all content to be easily edited and adapted by teachers to fit their individual curricula — whether hydrogen and heat pumps are taught as core subjects or integrated as cross-cutting themes within broader study programmes.
The materials have been translated and proofread by Slovak experts to ensure accuracy and relevance. They reflect the national curriculum, social context, and educational standards. All resources are being gradually uploaded to the electronical platform, where they will be freely accessible to educators and learners.
We hope that the materials will make teaching in green hydrogen and heat pumps easier and more attractive for students.
Building Expertise in Green Technologies
The GreenVOCnet project supports VET schools and small and medium-sized enterprises in developing expertise in eco-innovation and green technologies. It aims to mitigate climate change, reduce emissions, and strengthen Europe’s capacity in sustainable industries.
The educational materials form part of two certified training programmes:
Both are being developed under the guidance of the international Expert Advisory Board (EAB). Each combines technical knowledge with hands-on training to prepare students and professionals for growing labour market demand in green sectors.
Strengthening Collaboration Across Europe
GreenVOCnet connects education and VET providers, small and medium-sized enterprises, and local authorities in Greece, Spain, and Slovakia. Together, they create innovative training offers and strengthen innovation management in vocational education. This cooperation ensures that the new learning materials are practical, forward-looking, and transferable across Europe.
The project also builds a strong link between education and industry. Involving local networks and experts, it helps ensure that training programmes meet real market needs and support the uptake of green technologies.
Towards a Climate-Resilient Future
GreenVOCnet contributes to Europe’s broader mission to build a skilled, climate-resilient workforce. The project is funded by the Climate Action through the European Climate Initiative under the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs.
The aim is to bring the new training materials directly to educators and learners, to help Europe move on with the green transition.
