GreenVOCnet: Building Modern Energy Education Through Expertise and International Collaboration

Modernising vocational education and inspiring young people, including young women, to pursue careers in sustainable energy. Especially by developing high-quality teaching materials and innovative learning opportunities in heat pumps and green hydrogen technologies. The GreenVocNet project equips the next generation with the skills needed for a climate-neutral future. Discover how our expert-backed approach is helping shape Europe’s green energy workforce.

The shift to clean, affordable, and efficient energy requires not only new technologies but also a skilled workforce capable of deploying and maintaining them. The GreenVOCnet project was launched to address exactly this need: to modernise vocational education, make technical studies more attractive, and motivate young people to develop expertise in the technologies driving Europe’s energy transition.

Because participating countries, Greece, Spain, Slovakia and Germany, have different levels of experience and access to these technologies, GreenVOCnet also strengthens international exchange and knowledge sharing. The project is implemented by partners including the German-Hellenic Chamber, the University of Sevilla, and PEDAL Consulting, under the lead of FIAP (Germany).

GreenVOCnet operates under the auspices of EUKI – the European Climate Initiative, funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety in Germany

Expert Advisory Board: Ensuring Scientific and Technical Excellence

To secure the quality and relevance of all educational outputs, each participating country works with an Expert Advisory Board (EAB). It is a group of respected specialists who guide content development and validate the project’s technical direction.

In Slovakia, we are honoured to collaborate with:

  • Mr Maroš Halama — researcher at the Technical University of Košice, CEO of CorOne, hydrogen and decarbonisation expert,
  • Mr Lukáš Zendulka — hydrogen technologies specialist.

Their expertise is crucial for creating accurate, forward-looking teaching materials and MOOC courses that reflect real technological needs and industry practices.

Local Networks: Bringing Green Education Closer to Communities

To mobilise young people and support the educational system, GreenVOCnet cooperates with Local Networks (LN). They consist of organisations that raise awareness, promote opportunities, and help bring project results into classrooms.

In Slovakia, our Local Network includes:

These organisations play an essential role in motivating students, especially young women, to explore future careers in sustainable energy.

Implementation Partners: Turning Materials into Real Learning

Project success relies on schools and institutions that apply and test educational materials directly with students and teachers. In Slovakia, we work closely with:

Their feedback shapes the final form of teaching modules, MOOC courses, and learning activities, making sure they are practical, relevant, and aligned with real classroom needs.

Building Skills for a Climate-Neutral Future

GreenVOCnet brings together experts, educators, and institutions committed to one shared goal: to equip young people with the knowledge and confidence to drive Europe’s green transformation. By strengthening vocational education and opening pathways to new clean-energy careers, the project helps build the workforce Europe needs – today and tomorrow.
