Turning circular ideas into real connections: Insights from the WE.Circular Pop-up Store

Entrepreneurs, innovators, experts, and practitioners active in circular economy, sustainable business models, and women’s entrepreneurship headed to Bratislava (Slovakia) on 25 March 2025. The reason? An international WE.Circular Pop-up Store event which was held at the AC Hotel Bratislava by the Slovak Business Agency. The full-day event attracted about 70 participants from across Europe, including PEDAL Consulting.

A dynamic platform combining exhibition, networking, and knowledge exchange offered participants the opportunity to present their solutions, share experiences, and engage in discussions on sustainability, circular innovation, and the role of entrepreneurship in driving the green transition.

Showcasing PEDAL Consulting projects and building new collaborations

At dedicated exhibition table, our colleagues Stania Drusková, Lucia Birasová and Stanislav Laktiš presented several of our EU-funded projects.

They introduced visitors to key project objectives, ongoing activities, and early results, with a particular focus on how these initiatives contribute to circular business models, innovation, women’s entrepreneurship, and sustainable value chains.

Some of the main results and opportunities from our projects included:

  • METAVERSE ACADEMY
Free educational courses designed to equip several target groups with the technological and entrepreneurial skills necessary to thrive in the dynamic world of AR/VR/MR technologies.

  • GreenVOCnet
Equipping students, graduates and entrepreneurs with skills for the green transition through vocational education and training in the form of a free massive open online course in three languages (English, Slovak, Spanish, Greek).

  • OPEN HORIZONS
The third Open Call, running until 19 May, offers selected women-led digital and deep-tech startups up to €55,000 in equity-free funding, along with mentoring and support.

  • CARINA
Boosting sustainable diversification in farming systems

We are grateful for the opportunity to make the most of this important dissemination event. It enabled direct interaction with a highly relevant audience. In particular, we were able to:

  • raise awareness of ongoing EU-funded projects,
  • communicate their impact and practical relevance,
  • gather valuable feedback from stakeholders,
  • explore potential synergies and future collaborations.

Women entrepreneurs at the centre of circular business

Throughout the day, the event featured a diverse programme of presentations, interactive discussions, and informal networking sessions. A strong emphasis was placed on empowering women entrepreneurs and supporting innovative business ideas that integrate circular and sustainable approaches.

The Pop-up Store format enabled direct engagement between participants and exhibitors, fostering open dialogue and a practical exchange of ideas.

Participation in the WE.Circular Pop-up Store confirmed the growing importance of cross-sector collaboration and community-driven innovation in advancing the circular economy. Events like this play a key role in connecting research, business, and society – and in turning project results into real-world impact.
