Webinar #5: How to empower women in the RHC sector: What concrete actions are available?
This is it! We are reaching the end of our first series of webinars on gender mainstreaming and women’s empowerment in the renewable heating and cooling (RHC) sector.
We are pleased to invite you to participate on
September 21st, 2022 (Wednesday) at 10 – 11:30 CET
on the last webinar called
How to empower women in the RHC sector: what concrete actions are available?
Registration
During this capacity building program we have seen the importance, benefits and barriers to women empowerment in the RHC energy sector. We have the tools, now we need to change the mindsets and stop reproducing gender inequalities. At the beginning, we’ve also shared a survey, asking your opinion on “You have the budget and the time – which tools are the most relevant and interesting to start with?”. Participants indicated the following tools they would like more information about: women’s empowerment (59%), targets and indicators (55%) and gender trainings (45%).
Therefore, based on this given interest, we have selected the following three approaches to focus on:
Mentoring, coaching and networking
Gender trainings
Active recruiting
Join us while we explore everything about mentoring programs, listen to experiences from mentee/mentor in the RHC sector, and get insights on successful role model networks and programs. Furthermore, we will give practical information on how YOU can organise gender trainings. To conclude, you can watch the steps undertaken by a successful community on active women recruitment. It promises to be an interesting webinar where we aim to provide all participants with a list of opportunities and concrete actions, they can undertake to successfully empower women in the RHC sector.
Are you interested? Join us here! We are looking forward to welcoming you to our last webinar!
Online conference: More women in renewables & energy communities
As part of the EUSEW Extended Programme, eCREW, BECoop, W4RES and WECF organise an online conference on
“More women in renewables and energy communities: safeguarding an enabling policy framework”
on 22 September from 9.00 to 10.30 am CET.
To understand and highlight the barriers women in energy communities and in the Renewable Heating and Cooling sectors face, as well as their behaviours and perceptions, we will look at gender equality in RES and ECs from a societal perspective, exploring different survey results and outlining inclusive policies from H2020-funded projects.A first part will explore what obstacles women must overcome and what needs to change. A second panel will examine the legal framework for better gender-balanced policy formulation. Instruments and strategies to draft inclusive supporting policies and ensure an enabling legal framework will be discussed. The last part will showcase projects and initiatives that support women in the RES and ECs.

Webinar #4 – Support energy communities and gender-just energy communities

Webinar #4 – Support energy communities and gender-just energy communities
Registration
Energy communities pave the way for a different, decentralized and democratic energy system, pushing the renewable energy production and supply to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 5). Community energy can be key to reaching a decarbonised economy and a crucial step in tackling climate change and energy poverty. This is about more than windmills and solar panels. It is about production, distribution and storage of electricity. It is about heating, cooling and mobility. Community energy can help find a new balance between local economies and the global economy by using local and renewable resources while developing and keeping the knowledge in the regions and countries. It can help overcome the urban and rural divide, rich and poor can be engaged — because it empowers local people. Community energy leads to energy democracy, keeping the promise of an economy and society based on co-operation rather than competition.
The W4RES webinar n°4 ‘Support energy communities and gender-just energy communities’ is about starting to build the energy system of the future in your neighbourhood, your workplace, your university, or your town, right now, including the broad citizenship and focusing on gender and women’s empowerment.
Gender-just energy communities ensure not to exacerbate existing inequalities and participation schemes. Including citizens will increase the acceptance for the energy transition and that allows to accelerate the highly needed expansion of renewable energy.
On the 7th September, experts, energy community actors and WECF will guide participants through the model of gender-just energy communities, including challenges, lessons learnt and most adapted gender tools for implementation. A hands-on session will cloture our webinar and guide participants towards building their own gender-just energy communities.
Join us! To participate register here.

PEDAL to coordinate newly granted 5-year 5M € worth Horizon Europe project
Expertise and training centre on rural innovation
Slated to kick-off in October 2022, the newly granted project known under the acronym “RURALITIES” will contribute to fostering a sustainable, balanced and inclusive development of rural areas, supporting the implementation of the European Green Deal, in particular its fair and just transition component, the European digital strategy, the European pillar of social rights and the EU long-term vision for rural areas.
It will do so by accelerating the deployment of digital, nature-based, social and community-led innovations in rural areas through capacity building and enhanced knowledge exchange, leading to rural communities that will be better equipped with innovative and smarter solutions that increase access to services, opportunities and adequate innovation ecosystems.
The project supports the transition of pan-EU, Associated Countries (AC) and from the African Union (AU) rural areas towards sustainable, productive, climate-neutral and resilient agricultural systems by providing best available knowledge and capacity building about innovative digital, nature-based, social and community-led smart, social and community-innovations in rural value chains, as well as policy recommendations indicating necessary steps to raise the potentials of innovation as an enabler for rural actors to growth.
The consortium is composed of 52 partners, out of which 18 are from the African Union.
